This is the very last week you can get your entries into the Victoria University annual Picturing Footscray Prize. Picturing Footscray is an open-entry photography prize that focuses on Melbourne’s unique inner-west suburb of Footscray. There is $5,000 worth of prizes up for grabs and entries will be judged by Street Photographer Jesse Marlow.
The theme for 2018 is set around Old and New Footscray. We can’t wait to see what amazing work is submitted this year. There is sure to be some cracking images come to light.
Way back in 2016, our very own Jaye, scored third place with this depiction of the Heavenly Queen, Mazu on the banks of the Maribyrnong River. Jaye shot this image using a toy camera called a Holga. It uses medium square style film. She used a special type of film that gave the sky its gorgeous bluey-purple hue. So, even though it looks like an Instagram shot with a filter… it really isn’t!
Are you planning on entering this year? It really is a competition for the people! Get on board! Entries close Friday 27th April, check it out.
